"I'm scared"

"Why?"

"I'm beginning to hope"

A young couple living in a world ravaged by climate change face a terrifying prospect; an unplanned pregnancy. Together they must decide if they can bring a defenceless child into a seemingly hopeless world.

Nominated for Audience Choice (Brighton Fringe), People’s Choice (Melbourne Fringe), Best Theatre Short Run (OFFFest Awards) and Best Playwright Finalist at the Scenesaver Birthday Honours, this evocative one-act play by Australian playwright Melissa-Kelly Franklin explores the ethical and emotional implications of raising children in a precarious world. Using a mix of text and elements of physical theatre, the story weaves between the past and present, exploring these broad themes through the microcosm of one couple's relationship.

'A bounty of entertaining and passionate dialogue, challenging some of our typical thoughts and behaviours, and asking some big questions… We’ll Dance on the Ash of the Apocalypse leaves us with a lingering feeling of hope.'
