Devised and performed by the Hot Coals Theatre Ensemble

Founded in November 2012 by three Alumni of RADA’s brand new post-graduate acting course, MA Theatre Lab, Hot Coals Theatre Ensemble is dedicated to creating exciting new work through devising.

Hot Coals have created a moving and relevant piece, tackling head on the issues which will affect us all in our old age. As young performers playing women in their dotage they approach the material with sensitivity and a playful humour, inviting us to laugh both at them and ourselves whatever our age.

 

Margot Courtemanche

A French native, Margot graduated from RADA’s MA Theatre Lab (Acting) in 2012. Trained in physical theatre and ensemble work, her recent roles include B (Ben) in The Dumb Waiter and French Girl alongside Didier Flamand in the short film Sidney by Karan Kandhari. Roles at RADA include Masha in Three Sisters and Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Credits include European tour of Le Petit Prince with Tour de Force Theatre Co. and Private Lives at the Library Theatre, Manchester. Whilst training at Salford University (1st Cl. Hons BA Performing Arts), she adapted, played and directed Jules & Jim and Romeo and Juliet, played in Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are dead, The Crucible and Hamlet.

 

Clare-Louise English

Clare-Louise was amongst the first graduates from RADA's brand new post-graduate acting course, MA Theatre Lab. Theatre credits include; Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream, G (Gus) in The Dumb Waiter  (Courtyard Theatre), Emily in Absence  (Camden Fringe) and Isabella in Measure for Measure. Clare-Louise has also appeared in various low budget films including, award winning feature, Colin, has played the lead in the BBC Radio 4 play, The Dead House at Para and worked with Gecko Theatre Company on an R&D.
Whilst at RADA she played; Masha in Three Sisters, Lysistrata in Lysistrata, and Elizabeth Device in their final devised piece Possessed.  Also whilst at RADA she played Jem in, The Screw, as part of the Royal Court Young Writers showcase.

 

Jo Sargeant

Jo’s recent roles include; several leading roles in student films at UCA and the role of Underwater Girl in a music video Budapest, cast and directed by Des Hamilton. Her roles while at RADA include Lampito in Lysistrata, Puck in Midsummer Night’s Dream and Irina in Three Sisters. Jo graduated from the University of Winchester in 2011 with a BA Hons in Drama Studies. While at Winchester she was involved in many devised projects, both directing and performing, including Bellum Bestia, an adaptation of Othello which was a physical exploration of the effects of post traumatic stress syndrome, where she played Desdemona.
