Biographies

AUTHOR | NEIL LABUTE

Neil LaBute received his Master of Fine Arts degree in dramatic writing from New York University and was the recipient of a literary fellowship to study at the Royal Court Theatre. Films include In the Company of Men (New York Critics Circle Award for Best First Feature, Filmmakers’ Trophy at the Sundance Film Festival), Your Friends and Neighbors, Nurse Betty, Possession, The Shape of Things — a film adaptation of his play by the same title — The Wicker Man, Lakeview Terrace and Death at a Funeral. Plays include bash: reasons to be pretty, latter-day plays, The Shape of Things, The Distance From Here, The Mercy Seat, Autobahn, This Is How It Goes, Some Girl(s), Wrecks, In a Dark Dark House, Helter Skelter, The Furies and The War on Terror. LaBute is the author of several fictional pieces that have been published in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Harper’s Bazaar and Playboy, among others. A collection of his short stories was published by Grove/Atlantic.

DIRECTOR | GARY CONDES

Gary has spent over 20 years as a professional actor with an extensive career in Film, TV and Theatre. Career highlights include working alongside: Sam Rockwell (Moon), Helena Bonham Carter (Wings Of The Dove), Ray Winstone (Five Seconds To Spare) and Colin Firth (Fever Pitch).

For the last 10 years he has also become a renowned acting teacher and coach, running courses in London and all over Europe and privately coaching clients for roles on various high profile productions, including: Lars Von Triers ‘Nymphomaniac’, Paolo Sorrentino’s ‘Youth’, HBO’s ‘Game Of Thrones’, BBC1’s ‘The Three Musketeers’, Fox’s ‘The Bastard Executioner’,  Sky1‘s ‘24: Live Another Day’, The Young Vic’s ‘Hamlet’, Hampstead Theatre’s ‘The Arrest Of Ai Wei Wei’ and The Globe Theatre’s ‘Troilus & Cressida’.

After winning a number of short film awards at International film festivals for directing, writing and acting, Gary has now teamed up with Buckland Theatre Company to direct their 2016 season of play’s. The first being Miss Julie by August Strindberg, which ran in February and March to unanimous critical success: “This is as impressive an example of the masterpiece as any. SET & COSTUME DESIGN | PJ MCEVOY

PJ McEvoy designs Sets, Costumes & Projection Content having completed a degree in Professional Production skills at Guildford School of Acting. PJ has worked with Jack Galloway as Assistant Costume Designer and her credits include Punchdrunk Theatre: The Drowned Man (Temple Studios) and Batman Live (World Arena Tour) and has designed Paper Props & Graphics for Charlie & The Chocolate Factory (Theatre Royal Drury Lane). In addition to this PJ’s other prop designs include The Girls (Grand Theatre Leeds), 2015 Rugby World Cup (Various), Young Chekhov (Chichester Festival Theatre), Hamlet (The Barbican), Bend It Like Beckham (Phoenix Theatre), American Buffalo (Wyndham’s Theatre), Memphis (Shaftesbury Theatre), The Nether (Royal Court Theatre), Clarence Darrow (Old Vic Theatre), The Commitments (Palace Theatre), Barnum (Chichester Festival Theatre), Richard III (Apollo Theatre London) and The Phantom of the Opera (UK Tour).

Joe Price trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and received the 2015 Francis Reid Award for Lighting Design.
