Biographies

 

Writer | Maya Sondhi

Works as a writer includes Eastenders for BBC 1, as well as Mount Pleasant and The Kumars, both for Sky 1. Sket is her debut play.

Maya trained at LAMDA as an actor. Her most recent credits include: Line of Duty 3, Silent Witness, DCI Banks, Professor Branestawm Returns, Citizen Khan and Casualty for TV, Memsahib Emma and Shamed for BBC Radio 4, as well as Multitudes directed by Indhu Rubasingham at the Tricycle Theatre.

 

Director/Designer  | Prav MJ

Prav MJ trained as a director at the ART (American Repertory Theatre) in Boston, USA and as a designer at LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art).

Her credits include: UK Premiere’s The Lonely Soldier Monologues (The Cockpit Theatre), Six Rounds by US playwright John Oluwole ADEkoje (LOST theatre), Hamlet Smith by Spanish playwright Miguel Morillo, Lashings of Whipped Cream by New Zealand playwright Fiona Samuel (Nursery Festival), Fallujah by US playwright Evan Sanderson (The Cockpit) and Olives and Blood a play about Lorca by US playwright Michael Bradford (Brixton East), Pumpkin Patch & Newton’s Call by US playwright Patrick Gabridge (Chelsea Fringe Festival). Her US credits include The Girl who Loved the Moon (SLAMBoston 2007, Boston Center for the Arts) The Kiss (FeverFest 2007, Multicultural Arts Center. Cambridge, MA. USA)

Prav MJ founded PMJ productions in 2014 to support emerging writers and actors and to stage plays that create debate. The first play produced was the European Premiere of The Lonely Soldier Monologues by US playwright Helen Benedict, a verbatim piece about female soldiers in the combat zone. The play received support from the public via a successful Kickstarter campaign that led to further funding from Arts Council England. The play was nominated for a Liberty Human Rights Arts Award in association with the Southbank Centre, London.

 

Lighting Designer | Gareth Prentice

Gareth trained at LAMDA. Recent lighting designs include: The Lonely Solider Monologues (Brixton East, Arts Theatre & Cockpit Theatre), Useless (Brixton East), Fallujah (The Cockpit Theatre).

 

Sound Designer | James Bell

James studied Electronic Music Composition (MMus.) at London College of Music. Theatre includes The Lonely Soldier Monologues  (Brixton East, Arts Theatre & Cockpit Theatre) and Flight (Found Space).

Sound for film includes Addict (Fraught Productions), Karen's Room (Fraught Productions) and sound design for Delight (Scenario Films).

 

Composer | Rufaro Mapfumo

Rufaro is a singer/ songwriter. It was only when she moved to London from Buckinghamshire to begin university that she saved up for a home studio and began producing her own tracks in her spare time. Rufaro has written many songs for other artists. She produced, wrote and performed some of the original music for Sket. She is also currently working on an EP due to be released later on this year.

 

Choreographer | Antonia Baum

Antonia trained at Laban and The Place Contemporary Dance School, London. Her performance experience includes 'The Dancing Girl' in Sunday in the Park with George (Royal National Theatre) and dancing with Israeli companies, Springboard and Nova. She has choreographed numerous community and school projects with Rambert, Random Dance and Akademi.
