Park Sessions: Get Into Subtext with Jez Bond

Park Sessions Programme Curator: Holly Adomah Thompson

Stage Craft: Narrative, Exposition, Subtext, Dialogue…

Thinking of becoming a director? Or what about an actor? Does writing appeal to you? Perhaps all three? If so, using subtext in your practice is a very useful and transferable tool!

Join Park Theatre’s Artistic Director Jez Bond in a masterclass designed to help practitioners adapt this core skill into their creative practice. Afterwards, you are invited to speak to Jez about his work, his role at Park Theatre and your thoughts on the venue and the work produced.

In addition to his directing credits, Jez Bond has co-written four plays, been dramaturge on over a hundred and developed work with actors including Ian McKellen, Miriam Margolyes and Juliet Stevenson.

His two hour workshop, aimed at actors, writers and directors, will start to unlock some of the key components of drama: from narrative structure, to exposition, to creating (and speaking) dialogue that rings true, to discerning the power of the subtext. This is a practical session where everyone will have an opportunity to participate at various points throughout.
