Little Pieces of Gold - June

7 short plays about social media

Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Linked-In, Selfies and the rest. Little Pieces of Gold present eight ten minute plays which say something about our relationship with the social media landscape and how it impacts our lives.  Does it have a positive effect on love and friendship or does it simply give us a bad case of FOMO and lead to a lack of intimacy? What about work and productivity? Does social media stimulate it or overload us with information, hamper our concentration and distract us from being creative? Has social media given us a voice? Has it made us more politically engaged, promoted democracy and helped to subvert despotic regimes around the world? Or, are its powers limited as armchair revolutionaries, censors and cyberbullies overshadow the good?  Whether we love it, hate it or are somewhere in between, our playwrights bring you a night of exciting, thought provoking, new drama. Featuring plays by Carla Grauls, Sarah Hehir and Ben Worth plus four plays from emerging UK playwrights to be selected through an open submission.

Little Pieces of Gold was established in 2010 by artistic director and producer, Suzette Coon. We set out to discover, nurture and develop new writing from emerging UK writers and have produced the plays of over seventy playwrights at leading London fringe theatres. Our showcases garner much industry interest, have gained a reputation for facilitating long term creative collaborations between writers and directors and providing a platform for new voices, theatre makers and performers.

‘This production is filled with a wonderful variety of wit and humour, clever concepts and poignancy.’  Everything Theatre
