Act & Play 7-11 Autumn 2021

25 September 2021 - 04 December 2021

What is it?

This is a weekly course for children aged 7-11 who enjoy drama, play and having fun in a supportive and friendly environment. Over the course, we will develop skills in acting, movement, voice and theatre-making. Taking inspiration from the play A Place for We by Archie Maddocks, we will create our own pieces of theatre, as well as look at a selection of scripts and present what we have explored in a relaxed sharing on Sat 04 Dec.

Course Content

Weeks 1-2:
These weeks will be spent getting to know each other through games and fun exercises so that everyone feels comfortable and supported.

Weeks 2-5:
During these weeks, we will build on our skills as actors and theatre-makers through exciting exercises and games. We will discover the types of stories and plays that interest us and develop our voices and bodies to create a variety of characters.

Weeks 6-9:
During these weeks, we will create our mini plays and look at some scripts. We will take inspiration from the themes used in A Place for We as well as some of your favourite authors and playwrights.

Week 10:
In our final session together, we will rehearse our pieces and show them in a relaxed sharing in the Morris Space at 11.30am to celebrate all we have achieved this term!
