SPEECHES

by Jez Bond

This weekend I gave a presentation to the North London Equity branch. They were extremely enthused about the project and the room was buzzing with questions. I stayed during the course of their ten minutes break (before ‘other business’)  in order to speak to a number of people one-on-one. We are planning to arrange an Equity branch tour for the members, who were very keen to look around. It was an utter joy to talk in front of the members and I received the warmest of hands.

On the way home they played Ave Maria from the bus. “Is this a new thing they do to keep you calm in the traffic?” asked one passenger, a Marta from British Airways cabin crew. Either just so or perhaps the driver was simply having a laugh. We’ll have to see whether it happens again or not!

Tomorrow it’s another talk – this time at the Theatres Trust conference on Converting Spaces. Time to brush up on my speech…
