M&S CUSTOMS

by Jez Bond

We landed a few minutes ahead of schedule this morning and promptly proceeded to customs and immigration before collecting our bags.

Melli always travels back on her British passport in order that we can both pass through quickly. The queues for non-EU passports were long, it seemed that most people on our flight were American. We headed to the EU section and were presented with an sign for biometric passports. Taking it we immediately came upon a self serve gate – we scanned our passport, looked into the camera and went through the gates that promptly opened. Very efficient. Something about the experience reminded us both of the self check-out counters at some supermarkets: this isn’t just Customs, this is M&S Customs.

Straight home to unpack and then off to site. Jordan goes on holiday for a week tomorrow, so this is the last chance to catch up in person…
