EVENTFUL

by Jez Bond

After removing myself from the turmoil at Victoria station this morning, I headed to Finsbury Park by bus. A far more pleasant, though considerably longer, way to to travel. On site we met with a number of contractors, stepping ever closer to our goal of starting the build.

This afternoon a fruitful meeting at the architects’ studio concluded with an agreement on the way forward over the next few weeks. Some value engineering will invariably need to be done but the good decision was made to continue to planning submission irrespective of any tweaks that may follow. It’s important at this stage to get our consent.

At the end of the afternoon Dave Hughes presented his latest ideas and calculations in relation to the sightlines. It was great to hear his pride in the project as he told me he wanted both actors and audiences to come out raving about the quality of the sight-lines combined with the level of intimacy of the stage.

Whilst the build has not yet begun the reality creeps a little closer every day.
