This afternoon I met with David, the head of digital media at the Royal Opera House. He had very kindly spec’d all our digital media requirements, sent out a tender to ten companies and liaised with them regarding their quotes. As ever with the build, there is quite a range; from £28k to £62k. We have shortlisted three and will invite the companies to undertake a site survey and demo their products next week.

I also got back in touch with Tom from Orbital this morning. I have asked them to draw a schematic for the sound (show relay, paging, cans system etc) in order that, in order to save costs, we can add the cabling into the main M&E package. We are hoping to speak to one of his designers so that they, too, can undertake a site survey next week.

Time also to confirm the computing, networking, telephony,  broadband etc too. So I need to call some of the companies I spoke to last year regarding this and meet them on site. And the box office software too! In fact all this plus the crucial moves discussed yesterday – and I still haven’t fedback on the latest draft of the new musical I am developing.
