CONCRETE IS TOUGH

by Jez Bond

Two days the workmen have been attacking the ground floor slab with their power tools and diamond saws and the trenches for the drainage are now starting to take shape. These will connect all of the back of house drains (sinks, toilets, washing machine waste etc) with the rest of the system that currently enters from the street to serve the front of the building. These are some of the crucial things that aren’t hugely exciting to talk about but important to get right – once done the pipes will be buried back underneath newly poured concrete. Not easy or cheap to rectify any mistakes. It’s going well and next week work will continue further. Jordan, our project manager, is twitching to get the roof off and put the down-payment on the steel. It’s a matter of days away now…
