INTOXICATED

by Brackets Digital

Friday, 30 November, 2012

This week I received an email from Creative Director Melli describing how a Transmission workshop session on acting drunk had taken her back to when we first met in 2001.  Melli and I played two very different sisters in a US play called Independence and bonded irrevocably through our increasingly outrageous backstage warm-ups for a scene where Melli's delinquent character got her innocent older sibling inebriated. This was also the week when Melli and I finally got together for a social (yes, non-work!) evening …

MAUREEN CONTINUED - OR NOT.....

by Brackets Digital

Monday, 20 August, 2012

I haven’t managed to write a regular Monday blog for a while. This was partly because I’d been finishing a course and also because Maureen had to go to intensive care. (Check blog dated 25th June 2012 for reference and backstory). This was a sad and serious time, not least because it happened the night before a very busy week for me, her and Park. There were lots of tours to coordinate and confirm with people who had already been patiently waiting, and we had our ‘Take to the Streets’ campaign to organise for that weekend.   …

HAVE FAITH

by Brackets Digital

Friday, 10 August, 2012

‘Have faith’ my beloved Great Uncle Tony used to say to me. It was his favourite phrase and has since become mine. It was a useful phrase to remember as a performer when a contract came to an end and I’d be waiting for the next one. The times in between shows would feel like infinity... and keeping the faith was always a challenge, but I did somehow and my faith would be rewarded - the jobs did always come and they were always worth the wait. The Park Theatre journey is all about having faith and vision and the ability to make the things which begin life…

LIFE WORLD TRAVEL

by Melli Bond

Tuesday, 7 August, 2012

So once again I'm writing to you from the East Coast. It was a last minute trip and not one I was over joyed about taking. Not because I don't want to be here - but the reason behind it. I've lost someone that I have loved my entire life. It has been a total shock. It is hard to understand really. We are left behind with questions - only to provide ourselves with answers in order to cope. But as humans we are selfish. We don't want to be left behind.  I will admit in my selfishness it really upsets me that he will never get to visit the theatre. I was look…

MAUREEN – IN A WORLD OF WHIRR...

by Brackets Digital

Monday, 25 June, 2012

Park will be a technologically innovative theatre. I am not one of the most technologically savvy people on the planet. I’m excited by I.T prospects and innovation but I don’t really understand these things well, and I do like my notebook and pen. And, I take my time joining 21st century developments. I also own a PC. This is almost an unforgivable sin at Park.  I feel I’m an important representative of a sector of society that, within our equality policies,  Park does recognise and value. Having said that, my old PC has been fondly (t…

ALAN RICKMAN'S VISIT

by Jez Bond

Thursday, 14 June, 2012

Every day on site now brings something new. The steelworkers constantly expand the giant mecano set that is the Park Theatre auditoria frame meanwhile, at the very top of the building, the electricians and plumbers race to finish off the flats. Intrigued by the goings on in N4 and lured in by the promise of a new theatre in this (cliche) "current economic climate", a number of hi…
