AN HONEST DAY\'S WORK

by Jez Bond

Hands dirty with paint, limbs sore from adjusting wrenches and tightening bolts, back aching from scrambling under decking, eyes tired from dust. 8pm and the set has been made safe for tomorrow’s first rehearsal of ‘Company’ in the space (Southwark Playhouse). Still some bits to do – the odd hand rail, some painting and dressing… but after an honest day’s manual labour it is coming together. As associate director my role is varied!

Back to walk Hazel and then to have a bath (yeah right, never happens!) then to catch up with Park Theatre correspondence. I have been trying to put the pressure on the various consultants to finalise their tender packages.

I didn’t mean I never wash by the way. I meant that inevitably it’s a shower!
