Park Theatre CLOSED for minimum 6 weeks

17 March 2020

With deep regret, and after much consultation with our Board, we are closing down operations from tomorrow morning for a minimum of six weeks.

Important message from Artistic Director Jez Bond and Executive Director Rachael Williams

Park Theatre will be closing down operations from 17 March for a minimum of six weeks to combat the spread of Covid-19/ Coronavirus. This means there will be no more performances of La Cage aux Folles [The Play] or Corpse!, the cafe bar will not be open and creative learning activities will cease. We are working with the Board on a plan for future opening but, with the ever changing tide, this is the only news we can share at this time.

We apologise for the short notice and for any inconvenience caused to our patrons but health and safety is our first priority. As a small charity, that receives no public funds, a full refund of lost performances could be financially catastrophic for us, so we are asking patrons for the cancelled performances to please consider donating the cost of the ticket rather than requesting a credit note or refund. For those who kindly donate we would like to offer a complimentary one year membership to our Friends Scheme, as a "Key Keeper", where benefits include Priority Booking.

Our box office team will endeavour to contact all patrons who have upcoming bookings for La Cage aux Folles [The Play], Corpse! All other future performances are currently postponed until further notice. The situation is being monitored daily, and for now we are prioritising contacting customers for the shows currently running. If you’ve booked a ticket for a forthcoming show, we can assure you that we have every intention of delivering the show later this year. As soon as we have clarity on the new dates (which may only be later in the year after the date of your booking), we’ll be in touch with patrons to re-book. We would greatly appreciate if you can wait for us to contact you rather than adding the pressure of incoming calls to our small and stretched team at this time. If, when we get in touch, you are not able to make a new date we can offer a full refund or if you are able - and we understand this isn’t possible for everyone - you might kindly consider gifting the ticket price as a donation.

As an unsubsidised venue, these next few weeks are for us, as they are for many across our industry, a challenging time.
